On June 23rd, Tucson and the world come together in celebration of World Refugee Day with the 4th annual Tucson World RefugeeFEST & Soccer Tournament to be held at the Maracana Indoor Sports Arena, 555 E. 18th Street, a couple of blocks east of Armory Park Historic Residential Neighborhood. We invite the Armory Park Neighborhood Association and all of your members, residents and families to join us for this delightful cultural event.

APNA Formally Adopts "Development Principles" for the Armory Park Neighborhood

After working on them for the past two years, holding numerous public and committee meetings on them, and finalizing what should be included,
APNA has formally adopted a set of Development Principles that future developers can review to make sure their projects are in keeping with neighborhood residents’ wishes. These principles and a soon to be developed “Manual of Usage” will compliment the Armory Park Historic Zone Advisory Board’s guidelines, throughout the greater neighborhood, not just the Historic Neighborhood Preservation Zone. In fact, APNA will soon have at least two historic districts ( APHD / APHPZ and the new Downtown Historic District) within the year.

Cyclovia

Cyclovia is coming to Armory Park this Sunday, March 18, from 10-3. The route starts at 38th Street and 8th Avenue and follows 8th north to 14th Street, where it jogs east to Scott and north to 13th St. From 13th, it turns south on 4th Avenue to 34th Street. Come, participate! This year’s event will feature bike decorating, arts and crafts, a garden demonstration, food tasting, a bike rodeo, a puppet show, hula hooping, a water festival, a climbing wall, fitness classes, dancing, and live music–in addition to biking along the route.

APNA Board Meeting March 13, 2012

Please join us for the March APNA Meeting. There are a number of topics that will be important to all residents.
We’ll have presentations on ParkWise and related parking issues, a discussion about the new overlays the city is attempting to implement that may affect everyone in historic districts, and a discussion of APNA’s Feral Cat Policy.
