APNA Annual Meeting, November 9

Mark your calendars for the Armory Park Neighborhood Association Annual Meeting, November 9, 7 pm at St. Andrew’s Church.

In addition to the election of new board members, there will a number of interesting items on the agenda, including action on expanding the boundaries of the neighborhood, updates on new projects (Neighbors Helping Neighbors, community gardening), discussion of principles for development in and adjoining the neighborhood, and possible new parking program. APNA Board elections will be held on Tuesday, November 9, 2010 at 7 PM at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church at the corner of 5th Avenue and 16th Street. Please come out and VOTE!

APNA Board elections will be held on Tuesday, November 9, 2010 at 7 PM at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church at the corner of 5th Avenue and 16th Street.  We have at least four seats to be filled.  All it takes to be a board member is a commitment to help keep Armory Park as one of the best places to live in the country.  Our board is an all volunteer board and it meets on the second Tuesday of each month from 7 to 8:30 PM at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church.  The board addresses important topics that impact the quality of life in the neighborhood and make decisions and provide feedback to developers, city officials and others as necessary.  That sounds kind of boring, so we make sure we have some fun too by arranging some nice community events such as the APNA Holiday Party, The APNA Ice Cream Social, Neighborhood Clean-up days and CARNAVAL.  We also have representatives on the Downtown Neighborhoods and Residents Council, The 22nd Street Corridor Project and the Downtown LINKS Project.  The board has a direct voice in these important groups via our representatives.

New Online Blog for Sharing Local Resources

I’ve set up a simple blog, www.armoryparktucson.blogspot.com as a means for us to maintain and share a list of local resources.
In addition to the retail establishments already mentioned in the original thread (17th St Market, etc), please email me directly at julie@… (rather than to the listserv) with any other suggestions and I will add them to the blog over the next couple weeks. Remember to reply to me rather than the group.

Neighbors Feeding Neighbors

Ongoing program to assist those in need by providing meals. The program is a volunteer based program that operates out of St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church. It costs about $4 per meal to produce meals for our neighbors. Your cash contributions and/or your volunteer time are GREATLY APPRECIATED!
